Web Guiding Education and Information
What type of web guide do you need?
Specifying the web guiding needs of this process takes three easy steps.
Step 1
Determine where you need lateral position accuracy. |
Step 2
Choose which web guide will best meet your needs at each guiding location. |
Step 3
Install the web guides in each location following the application guidelines. |
Step 1 - Determining Where Your Process Needs Web Guiding
Let's break down steps 1 and 2 into three general locations your process may need a web guide: at the input or unwind of your process, at any intermediate location between unwinding and rewinding, and at the rewinding process.
Though we define three cases where you may need web guiding, this doesn’t mean every line will need three web guides. For shorter processes, unwind guiding may meet the needs of the entire process. For longer processes, there may be one or more intermediate guiding needs.

Where do you need to laterally align your web? |
Unwid Guiding |
For processes that start with an unwinding roll, the incoming material should be located laterally where the operator wishes. |
Rewind Guiding |
As the web moves through a process it may have many web-to-equipment or web-to-process alignment requirements such as avoiding contact with side walls or slots and entering centered to coating, laminating, or slitting processes. |
Winder Guiding |
Center align to the web at the rewind core. Successive layers should align to previous wound layers. |
