The ability to calibrate load cells without weights will allow operators to maintain consistent tension throughout the web and eliminate lengthy setup procedures.
For the first time, operators will be able to perform the routine function of load cell calibration without weights. More accurate web control is achieved as the process is automated, allowing staff to focus on other critical aspect of the web, resulting in reduced setup time and improved consistency. Other powerful features like Automatic Tuning and Out of Round Roll Compensation (previously only possible with a dancer control) help to ensure consistent roll quality.
“In the past, operators have spent up to 5 minutes per load cell during the calibration stage, hanging a set value weight from each component and then checking the readout from each unit to ensure the correct settings.” Said Darrell Whiteside, Product Manager for MAGPOWR, “Most web processes have at least 4 load cells, when you add in the factor of material changeover, the time savings is significant.”
Cygnus also saves valuable panel space with standard DIN panel mount and compact packaging. At less than four inches in depth, Cygnus door mount applications leave plenty of space to mount components on the panel immediately underneath. For retrofit applications there is an IP65 enclosed version allowing for convenient mounting to the machine frame or wall.
