Shaftless Unwind
Brakes
Tidland has the best name in corrugating with their brake line. The products have successfully served the corrugating industry for decades. Tidland offers 2 OEM stand mounting packages to make it easy to buy or retrofit.
Providing predictable tension control with a self-contained cooling system, the Tidland air brakes are so dependable and easy to maintain they barely need servicing after the easy installation. 6 sizes of a standard model, the brakes are capable of handling a maximum torque range of 1,430 inch-pounds to 23,700 inch-pounds.
Key Features:
- Air-cooled, air-operated disc brakes for intermittent braking and continuous tension requirements.
- Modular brake design accommodates a wide variety of applications.
- Accurate, reliable tension control – from the most fragile tissue to the heaviest papers.
- Minimal moving parts and durable materials provide long-lasting operation.
- Easy retrofit and installation, designed for off-the-shelf configuration.
- Easy to maintain design with opposing calipers are self-adjusting and require no special tools for servicing
Raptor Series Torque Chucks:
Introduced in 2003, the new 4” Torque Chucks are designed for the corrugating market and are ideal for continuous-duty shaftless applications. The unique design is extremely robust, easy to maintain and core-friendly.
The chuck is a completely torque activated, bi-directional shaftless winding solution for corrugating, sheeting and other shaftless winding applications. It differs from other chucks with on-machine maintenance and the ability to repeatedly use cores without damaging core ends.
Product Benefits / Differentiation:
- Less parts (single bolt accessibility to internal components)
- Maintenance can be performed on machine
- Single-bolt removal to access components
- Absolute core centering/Concentric expansion within .15” TIR
- Minimizes roll vibration
- Improves tension
- Enables higher run speeds
- Uses three precision ground rollers instead of six (Torque Activated expansion)
- No operator intervention
- No tools required
- No air supply
- Chucks activated by web tension alone
- Reliable. Product design delivers maximum torque on fiber or steel cores. Close tolerances and minimal gaps between moving parts ensure that lugs always retract (there has been a problem with other chucks where the lugs ‘stick’ – making removal of the roll from the machine extremely difficult.
- Durable construction for long life.
- Non slip grip of core
- Insures quality roll build
- Increases overall profitability
- Higher performance at the same cost.
